KALAKALA BULLETIN No. 2 Week ending June 9, 2006 |
|
The
Kalakala Charter Membership Drive starting June 1, 2006 is
closed. Our charter members list is posted on our website
www.kalakala.org, and, if you are a past charter member
and your name is not listed please contact us via
email:olympicforum2000@usa.net. We thank all past members
and donors for their help. The results included keeping the
Kalakala safe, moving to a resting place, getting State and
National registrations, and master planning a Kalakala
terminal and Maritime Museum to be share the Kalakala with
future generations. Today, we are preparing for shipyard works both on the water and at dry dock. This can be accomplished, and June 1, 2006 the Kalakala Shipyard fund drive is called, the "Kalakala Club" . The Kalakala Club fund goal is $250,000, and we are targeting this fund drive to end on/before July 1, 2007. The funds will be disbursed to pay for estimated fees including; $15,000 insurance and hull survey (and extending the current U.S. Coast Guard Certificate of Financial Responsibility), $25,000 moorage, $5,000 towing, $100,000 dry dock painting contract, $60,000 shipyard dry-dock fees, hull ultra sound testing, and $45,000 shipyard on-the-water and shop fabrications. The foundation will seek materials and supplies, equipment, professional in-kind services, and labor volunteers starting June 2006 through July 2007. You can help us by renewing your annual charter membership or joining the new Kalakala Club. We look forward to continued success, and seeing everyone at the Kalakala's 72nd Anniversary on July 3-4, 2007 in Tacoma Hylebos Creek Waterway! Thank you, Steve Rodrigues President and Chairman of the Board |
